To access the presentations, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your HostingCon account.
2. Click on the YOUR ACCOUNT tab.
3. On the left side of the screen in the Account Management Options box, you’ll find a link at the bottom that states “Download All Speaker Presentations”. Below this are links to download individual track presentations.
4. Click on the file you would like to download.
5. A zip file will download with currently available presentations. If you download all presentations, they will be sorted by session day and session track. If you download individual track presentations, they will be sorted by session day.

NOTE: The zip file for “All Speaker Presentations” is large and may take up to ten minutes to download depending on your connection speed.

Unfortunately, not all speakers provided their PowerPoint slides. Therefore, not all presentations are available.

In addition, many speakers updated their PowerPoint slides immediately before their session. This means the currently available presentations may not be the exact ones presented during the speaker’s session.  If we receive an updated presentation, we will add it to the downloadable files.

Again, thank you for your participation at HostingCon 2009.  We look forward to an even better event in Austin, Texas next year!

To register at the door, simply visit the registration desk within the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference facility during any of the following registration dates and times:

Sunday, August 9:              12:00pm- 4:00pm
Monday, August 10:            8:00am-5:00pm
Tuesday, August 11:           8:00am-6:00pm
Wednesday, August 12:       8:00am-4:00pm

You can register onsite using credit card, cash, or check.
Credit card and PayPal are accepted if you register online at HostingCon.com.

Where is the Registration Desk?

The registration desk is located on Level 2 of the Gaylord National Conference Center Conference facility in the Potomac Ballroom Foyer and just outside the keynote, general session, and lunch conference rooms.  You will see signs directing you to the registration desk at multiple points throughout the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center facility.

HostingCon Show Schedule

For your convenience, you can download a PDF of the HostingCon show schedule.  Download the show schedule to review the sessions and check mark the ones you want to attend!

The first educational track session starts on Monday at 9:00 am following the Morning Refreshments/Networking hour which starts at 8:00 am.

You will also receive a show guide during registration that contains the show schedule among other program details and exhibitor information.

Getting Around the Conference

The HostingCon event team will have signage throughout the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center facility to help get you where you need to be on time and on schedule.  The conference occurs across three floors.  Escalators and elevators are available across each floor.  The show guide and signage will point you in the right direction.

The exhibit hall is open at the following times:

Tuesday, August 11:             10:30am – 6:00pm
Wednesday, August 12:        10:30am – 4:00pm

Upgrading Your Registration Plan

We have had a number of people already decide to upgrade their registration plan from exhibits only to full conference.  If you want to upgrade your registration plan, you can do so at the registration desk.  The registration desk will be staffed during the hours listed above.

The most targeted way to network at HostingCon is to schedule meetings in advance.  This year, HostingCon is leveraging the event capabilities of LinkedIn to facilitate these meetings.  If you want to make it known that you are attending HostingCon and are open to meeting requests, or if you want to find a person or company of interest:

1. Go to the HostingCon Event page in LinkedIn
2. Let it be known that you are attending/speaking/exhibiting at HostingCon by indicating your status in the RSVPs box in the upper right hand corner of the Overview page.
3. Browse the RSVPs to find companies and contacts of interest, then connect via LinkedIn

There are many places available to meet both in and around the HostingCon event.  Most notably, you can meet in the WHIR’s Networking Lounge on the exhibit hall floor.  If more privacy is needed, there are great venues within the Gaylord National.  National Harbor, the area surrounding the Gaylord, also has outstanding bars and restaurants.

On Monday, August 10th, the opening keynote is Parallels CEO, Serguei Beloussov.  He will deliver a presentation that enables attendees to learn first-hand how to leverage cloud computing and evaluate everything from automation to virtualization solutions.  If you attended HostingCon 2008, you know that Serquei has a unique ability to break down the competitive environment in a way that shakes out opportunities.  For this keynote, he will help hosting services providers identify a unique opportunity to offer their SMB customers applications via Software-as-a-Service (SaaS.)

Following Serquei on Monday afternoon is Iain Grant, Managing Director of Sea Board Group.   In this keynote, Iain will review the current business environment, the demands customers are placing on hosting companies, the opportunities hosting companies face and the choices that hosting companies have to make.  These choices include building, co-locating and buying services from others.  Iain will review the merits of each option, and the limitations, within the constraints of the current changing environment.

On Wednesday morning, August 12th, Frank Schmiedel from the Delegation of the European Commission, David Ritchie from the U.S. Office of Technology and Electronic Commerce and Larry Donahue from Deep Web Technologies are presenting an appropriate subject for a conference in Washington D.C.  More importantly, their subject matter is a “need to know” for all web hosts serving customers in the U.S. and/or European Union.  Their keynote presentation is titled, “Data Protection Policies in US and EU.”  In this keynote panel, David, Frank and Larry will provide you with details on all aspects of data protection laws for both US and EU. Now more than ever, you need to protect your customers’ data by implementing processes today. You’ll learn how to implement processes effectively while improving the value of your services. Plus you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions based on your current data protection environment.
